Immediate CARE

We Offer Immediate Care When You Need It Most

Sarasota Medical Center works our schedule around yours because your needs come first. We take scheduled appointments, however, if you need medical attention today, we will see you today. Just come in when you are ready without an appointment. There's no need to call.

Our Immediate Care Services Include:
  • Lacerations and Cuts
  • Minor Surgery
  • Treatment for Illness and Injury
  • In-House Lab Work
  • Allergy Shots
  • Sports Injuries
  • Accidents
  • Colds and Acute Illness

Lacerations, Cuts and Minor Surgery

Sarasota Medical Center is fully equipped to handle your laceration emergency.

When you come to our clinic, our first step will be to stop the bleeding. Then, we will often give medication to numb the area, clean the wound and then determine the best way to repair the cut. Minor cuts can often be closed with adhesive tapes or tissue glue, but if the cut is deep enough, stitches might be required.

We will ask when you had your last tetanus immunization. Usually, tetanus immunizations are given once every 10 years.

Treatment for Illness and Injury

We are equipped to handle all immediate medical conditions that are not consider emergencies  but still require immediate care. Some examples of illness and injury that our immediate care staff handles includes:
  • Falls
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Back Problems (e.g. a pulled back)
  • Breathing Problems (e.g. mild to moderate asthma)
  • Flu
  • Lesions that Require Stitches
  • Eye Irritation or Injury
  • Fever
  • Vomiting, Diarrhea or Dehydration
  • Cough or Sore Throat
  • Fractures
  • Skin Rashes and Infections
  • Urinary Tract Infections

In-House Lab Work

Lab tests play an important role in your medical care plan. They allow our doctors to access more information about your health and use the results to make decisions. Here at Sarasota Medical Center, we draw all our lab work in-house, meaning you won't have to visit several locations to get the care you need.

Allergy Shots

We provide allergy shots to our patients, which are injections received at regular intervals over a period of time to stop or reduce allergy attacks. Allergy shot treatments (also called immunotherapy) contain a very small amount of the allergen that causes your attacks, allowing your own immune system to build up a tolerance over time.

Allergy shots are a great treatment choice if your current medication is not controlling your allergies, if your current medication gives you side effects, if you want to reduce your long-term use of allergy medication or if you're allergic to insect stings.

Allergy shots are most commonly used to control:
  • Seasonal allergens (like pollen, grass and weeds)
  • Indoor allergens (like dust mites, mold and pet dander)
  • Insect stings (like bees, wasps and hornets).

Sports Injuries

Playing sports is a great way to stay active, but injuries do occur. Some of the most common sports injuries we treat include:
  • Ankle Sprain
  • Pulled Groin
  • Hamstring Strain
  • Shin Splints
  • Knee Injury/ACL Tear
  • Tennis Elbow
